Suruga Province Ichinomiya

Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha

富士山本宮浅間大社

Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha is the ichinomiya — the leading shrine — of the former Suruga Province, in present-day Shizuoka. It has a car park (about 150 spaces), paid. Opening hours end at 15:50 (prayer-rite desk). Without a car, the local authority gives 2 routes from a station (on foot, by bus), one of them a walk of 10 min; the station names are listed below. Its principal annual festival (reisai) falls on November 3–5 every year. We found 3 entries for the shrine in Japan’s national database of designated cultural properties. The nearest other ichinomiya is Mishima Taisha, 30 km to the east in a straight line.

Nearest ichinomiya

The closest is Mishima Taisha, about 30 km to the east in a straight line, the ichinomiya of Izu Province. After that come Sengen Jinja (48 km north) and Kotonomama Hachimangu (68 km south-west).

Straight-line distances between the shrines, not road distances. Across mountains or water, the drive is much longer.
